Learning and Development Group

Terms of Reference 


1. Purpose

To provide a forum to prioritise, plan and influence learning and development programmes provided by LDU Community of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.


Working collaboratively with partner organisations to plan the health and social care workforce development and drive forward work to ensure staff are appropriately trained.


In order to ensure that decisions about learning and development are better informed, all relevant stakeholders should be involved in the Learning and Development Group.


2. Key responsibilities

  • Support LDU Community to identify learning and development requirements for the adult social care sector of Northumberland
  • Influence the learning and development programmes for the adult social care sector of Northumberland 
  • Monitor the evaluation of learning and development programmes
  • Suggest changes to learning and development programmes as a result of evaluation processes


3. Accountability

The Learning and Development group will be accountable to the Directorate Management Team via the Operational Manager, LDU Community.


The prime remit of the Learning and Development Group is to ensure that there is education and training provision in place which meets the learning and development needs of the adult social care workforce. 


The Learning and Development Group will be responsible for identifying programmes that are no longer fit for purpose and suggesting priority themes for future development.
