3. Matters Arising

 

The following training is now available from LDU – Falls awareness and Podiatry.  These dates have now been made available.

Infection Control – on request via Julia Marley

Medication competencies for managers – please contact Julia Marley

BTEC certificates Level 2 Dementia, Nutrition and End of Life – Any queries to Julia Marley.  A BTEC report can be arranged to be issued.

4 Training Needs Analysis

The TNA was sent to over 500 organisations, with a return of only 17%.

Allocation on courses will be given to people who have completed the TNA.

 Some members of the group thought the TNA too time consuming and preferred a paper copy.

The new TNA will be issued in May and again will be trailed by the reference group.

 

 

 

5 Employer Engagement Event – Catalogue Launch 10.2.12

  • Over 100 people attended this event from a range of services throughout the county.  TheLearning and Developmenttraining catalogue was launched for April 2012 to March 2013.
  • NMDS is mandatory for all services.  Information is available on the SCILs website.
  • Julia Marley explained the costs for non-attendance on courses.
  • Rookie Golf gave a talk about what they could provide for services. Julia will check if funding is available via LDU
  • Two members of staff were available from the Oral Health team, training will be available from them in due course.
  • The Health Improvement team would welcome ideas for the catalogue which will be issued annually.  From April this will available to the PVI sector in Northumberland.

 

6 Update – Learning and Development Activity

  • Moving & Handling, Food Safety and 1st Aid courses are now fully booked up to June, there are places available from June onwards in all areas.
  • Moving & Handling Objects – dates now available
  • Food Safety L3 (4 day course) – dates now available.
  • Falls Awareness –dates now available.
  • Train the Trainer MCA is in the process of being rolled out.
  • DoLS / MCA training is only required by registered managers.
  • Progress on the LDU website is still ongoing.
  • Anyone who did not attend a course without prior notice to LDU will be charged from April 2012. ( £35 for ½ day course and £60 for full day)
  • Skills for Care were not in attendance so no discussion took place.

 

 

7 Any other Business

NAPPI (Non abusive psychological & physical intervention) training – Julia gave a short demonstration and explanation of NAPPI.

19 people in the region have been trained to deliver and 9 are to be trained in Level 3.  This has been piloted in certain services.

Level 1 training to be rolled out in due course.
