2. Minutes of the last Meeting


  • Minutes of previous meeting were read  and agreed
3. Matters Arising: Did Not Attends


  • Charges for non attendance at courses without prior notification will commence from April 2013, the exact cost has not yet been decided.
  • DNAs for this year have cost the department in excess of £40K

      98% of DNAs are from the PVI sector.



4. Employer Engagement Event


  • The last event was held on 17th October 2012 and was very well attended.


5. Update-Learning and Development Activity


  • Courses for this current year are mostly fully booked although applications can still be sent as places may be available through


  • Any surplus funds in the department budget will be spent on additional courses
  • Website – after 18 months of planning this is on target to be launched at the next conference in February 2013.
  • The website should be available to the Reference Group in January where any feedback is welcome before the official launch.
7. Catalogue 2013/2014


  • Is going to print early January 2013
  • Will be launched on 22nd February 2013 – NCEA Josephine Butler Campus, Ashington
8. Update: Key Priorities


  • Workforce Development Fund still available to those who have completed their NMDS
  • QCF Levels 3 and 5 will now be run by Release Potential via LDU


9. Any other Business


  • Nappi – New dates now available
  • Activities in the workplace – this course filled up immediately after it was advertised. If further funding becomes available extra courses will be advertised.
  • ILM Level 2 supervisory management – flyers to be sent out early in the new year
  • Health Improvement – Kay Yeo will be part of the LDU team

and is lead for the following – smoking cessation, alcohol awareness, Mental Health 1st Aid and others.  These will be available in the new catalogue

  •    LDU Matrix assessment 19th/20th December
  •   Changes to ISA-next session 30th April 2013 it is advised that all managers should attend.
