NORTHUMBRIA HEALTHCARE STAFF AWARDS CEREMONY – LDU Nominated for innovation award
The Jack and Josephine project were nominated this year for the work in relation to supporting people with learning disabilities across Northumberland.
Members of the team attended the ceremony along with Jack and Josephine on 5th June. Unfortunately Jack and Josephine didn’t get 1st place but they were runners up!
Well done to them for their continued commitment.
Some points to remember, when you’re registering for a learning account on Learning Together:
- The Manager of the service MUST register first – all accounts need a manager assigned, and if you’re not registered, then your staff won’t be able to.
- All accounts MUST have an individual email address. This can be work or personal – and if individuals don’t have email addresses, it is very quick and easy to create one, via Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc. which can be used purely for this purpose.
- Email addresses are never given out, and are never used for anything other than automatic messages confirming bookings, or sending reminders or cancellations.
- The rule of thumb when you’re selecting your ‘organisation’ and ‘job role’ is: if there’s a ‘+’ next to the name in the list, click on it to ensure you EXPAND THE LISTS FULLY. Always search for the exact name of your organisation or the closest job role to your own – and please don’t select the titles of the lists.
Any missing or incomplete data on the registration form will result in a delay to your application process, and if we can’t get hold of you to clarify the information provided, there is no choice but to reject your application.
If you’re unsure about anything when completing your on when completing your registration form, give us a ring 01670 629033 and we’ll be happy to help.

If you receive an email for someone who no longer works for your organisation, can you please let us know where they have moved to or any contact address so we can get in touch with them.

CHANGES TO SAFEGUARDING ADULTS GUIDANCE AND TRAINING
The Care Act 2014 came into force in England on April 1st 2015 and will see some significant changes to how the Local Authority will provide social care services.
Existing Safeguarding Adults policies and procedures will be updated to reflect the new guidance within the Act. This will result in changes to Safeguarding Adults Awareness Training to include the new definition of abuse and to increase the categories of abuse. As a result of this all of our provider partners will need to ensure that their own policies and procedures are reviewed to reflect the National and Local guidance.
We will keep you updated as to when the new Safeguarding Adults guidance is available but in the meantime if you have any queries in this respect please contact Leigh Waller either by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone on 01670 629041.
If you provide in-house Safeguarding Adults Training please ensure your materials/resources are updated. Once again please contact Leigh Waller if you need any guidance or support in this area.
