Direct Payments and Personal Budgets Simplified

Event Overview:

 

This half day session aims to provide staff with information about the Self Directed Support process and will specifically focus on how people achieve choice and control by using a cash personal budget. It aims to give staff involved in the process increased confidence and will draw on real life case scenarios as working examples

Target Group:

 

Specifically NCC and Northumbria Staff, who are new to Direct Payments work, in the following teams:-

 

  • Needs assessors
  • Early intervention staff

 

Learning Outcomes:

 

Learners will understand

 

  • The advantages and disadvantages of receiving a Direct Payment from a client perspective
  • The roles of the Care Manager and Self Directed Support team
  • The support available to people taking a cash personal budget to employ their own personal assistants.
  • The differences between personal budgets funded through health and those funded through social care.
