Mental Capacity Act (MCA) 2005 Awareness

Event Overview:  This half day session aims to provide participants with an awareness and familiarisation of the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) and explore its implications for practice.  The Act sets out how individuals’ needs may be assessed and met at times when they lack capacity to make decisions themselves.

 

The frequency of this training is once.

 

Target Group: All staff working in front line health & social care practice

 

Learning Outcomes: Including:

 

  • Achieve a working knowledge of the fundamentals of the MCA
  • Explore relevant practice situations and relate these to working within the MCA
  • Examine dilemmas from participants’ professional experience and seek to increase attendees confidence in dealing with such situations especially in understanding capacity and consent issues
